About Therapy
Therapy is a safe space where you are able to work through life stressors and achieve your goals collaboratively with a therapist that uses evidence-based treatments such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, etc.
What sets us apart from other clinics is that we are mission-driven with an Islamic lens, under the guidance and practices of the Al Kisa mission team. We prioritize our faith by providing therapy with an Islamic-based lens based on your level of comfort.
Online therapy provides an equally effective option for mental health support as face-to-face therapy. People seeking therapeutic support for anxiety, depression, and other common mental health needs can use virtual or in-person therapy as a support. Online therapy offers easy access to mental health support from virtually any location with many flexible options in addition to reduced stigma and increased privacy.
Mandated reporting is there to protect vulnerable members of this society and it is nothing to be afraid of. Culturally aware therapists can help determine whether the child or individual is in danger or not.
All therapists measure threats through consistency and reliability, and overall each therapist needs to abide by the rules: do no harm and do good.
Just because therapists are mandated reporters does not mean that they are going to judge a person or believe that they are a perpetrator or an evil person. The act is separated from the person and the rule is there for the safety of the child or victim. Therapists understand that there is always more to the story.

A friend can be a great support in difficult times, however, a friend is not able to provide you regulated treatment from an objective lens due to the influence they have on your life. They are also not equipped to perform necessary treatments to work on improving your mental health. And with the therapists at Kisa Therapy, therapists can help you find a lot more clarity in terms of your spiritual and mental health.

The Process
Great question! No, you don’t need one! You are able to book an appointment with a therapist on your own!
When you book a free consultation, you will receive a calendar invite with a Google Meet link at the time you scheduled. Follow the link at the scheduled time. It will be a chance for the therapist to introduce themselves, talk about the process of therapy and answer any questions you may have. After your free consultation, you can choose to proceed with the clinician by booking a session through our website.
Islamic etiquette says we do not have the right to judge anyone and only Allah is the true judge.
In ḥadīth we are told one of the most important duʿās to make is “O Allah, make our ending the best ending.” Life can change at any moment, and people grow and change.
We are working hard to make this a safe, non-judgmental space, where you can be yourself and really connect with who you are. Our job is not to judge but to create a safe space for you to explore and process.
We would encourage you to have a conversation with your therapist about what is or isn’t working and see if you are able to work through the issues at hand. This could be a great opportunity for more powerful inner work. If it doesn’t work out, you are more than welcome to seek out another therapist from our team.
At Kisa Therapy Clinic, we strive to provide the highest quality of care to our clients. However, it’s important to note that current licensure laws mandate that clients must reside in the same state where their therapist is licensed. Therefore, if you do not reside in the state where our therapist is licensed, we regretfully cannot accept you as a client at this time.
Please note that this requirement is in place to ensure compliance with legal and ethical guidelines, as well as to prioritize the well-being and safety of our clients. We understand that this may be disappointing, but we encourage you to explore therapy options available in your state for the support you seek.
If you have any further questions or need assistance in finding local resources, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at admin@kisatherapyclinic.org.
We are here to help guide you on your journey towards mental well-being.

While psychotherapy and social work are regulated health professions in Ontario, they are unfortunately not covered under OHIP, OW or ODSP.
The majority of extended health benefits, however, do cover psychotherapy and social work services (typically in your health and dental insurance package from your employer). We encourage you to speak with your insurance provider about counseling services provided by a Registered Social Worker or Registered Psychotherapist to determine your eligibility and approved rates of coverage. We do not reimburse sessions if it turns out you do not have coverage.
